![]() This doesn't imply that 'UFO: Alien Invasion' is a mod or a total conversion at all! No, 'UFO: AI' is a stand-alone game which doesn't require Quake2 or any similar program to run. The game engine is based on a heavily modified version of ID's Quake2 Engine. Once you've acquired sufficient samples of the unknown technology, your research labs will be able to reproduce the alien weapons and devices in order to use them against their original creators. In addition to eliminating as many enemies as possible, your mission is to minimize civilian casualties as well as to acquire parts of the advanced alien technology. When all your forces are out of time units, the alien's turn starts. Well, this might sound somewhat old school now, but trust us: turn-based games are fun!Įach member of your squad has a limited number so called time units each round, which are consumed when you order the unit to walk, to fire a weapon or to perform any of the other miscellaneous actions. 'UFO: Alien Invasion' is neither a sequel nor a remake of 'UFO DEFENSE' - we simply had the urge to create a similar strategy game, which will hopefully be as entertaining as the original was for the players (and for the developers, of course ) ). The first game of the series, 'UFO DEFENSE', became a classic and, in our honest opinion, is one of the best games ever made. 'UFO: Alien Invasion' is heavily inspired by the 'X-COM' series by Mythos and Microprose. To be successful on the long run, you will also have to have a research team study the aliens and their technologies in order to learn as much as possible about their technology, their goals and the aliens themselves. You are in command of a small special unit which has been founded to face the alien strike force. The graphics are good, and so is the AI.UFO: ALIEN INVASION is a strategy game featuring tactical combat against hostile alien forces which are about to infiltrate earth at this very moment. It is a version 2.2, which means it has a LOT of stability and great development. I'm older now, and it brought back good memories and an old addiction. This UFO:AI game, in spite of the above, has consumed me again. I am a huge veteran of the games, I worshipped them and was an expert, so maybe I am biased, but who knows. I find myself building bases just to waste all of the loads of cash I am given, and there is very little alien fighting. I also don't know if it is me, but the Standard mode feels too easy. There are bugs, like the imagery of your soldiers in fighting mode don't reflect the soldier currently selected. This includes the first two man-made fighters based on Alien Tech, and a mid-game scrolling text to further the story along. Some text (English) for the game is just filled with the phrase "TODO" meaning they haven't gotten to it yet. ![]() Multiplayer doesn't seem to find servers on the internet There are some things to look out for, however. ![]() This game does do justice to those wonderful games, kudos to the developers. I lost many years of my life to the 3 X-Com games back when I was a PC user (and young).
